Patients can come for a specialist dermatological examination for any skin-related issue, as well as for the evaluation of individual changes that have suddenly appeared on the skin, scalp, nails, or visible mucous membranes.
We place special emphasis on examining moles, with the aim of preventing and detecting skin cancer, particularly melanoma, at an early stage. Skin melanoma is one of the most common malignant tumors today. In recent years, the incidence of melanoma in our population has been steadily increasing. Preventive mole examinations are recommended once a year, as they improve quality of life and survival rates.
The first step is a consultation with a dermatology specialist. During the visit, you can ask any questions you may have, and the doctor will ask for information they consider important.
After the consultation, a skin examination is performed. This includes examining the skin of the limbs, trunk, face, scalp, and nails. Sometimes it is not necessary to examine the entire body, depending on the dermatologist’s assessment and whether it is your first visit. The skin examination may be performed classical or using a dermatoscope.
During the first visit, a final or preliminary diagnosis is established. If necessary, recommendations are given for further tests required to confirm the diagnosis and prescribe therapy.
Certain types of treatment can be performed immediately in the office during the dermatological examination.
The first dermatological examination does not require any special preparation. If the patient is using topical treatments, it is recommended to stop using them a few days before the examination.
